The Peat Cutters
In 1595, the Pagnevaartbos already mentioned under the name Paedsievaart, Paesievaart and Pagievaert. All were corruption of Spagnevaart because it was thought that remains of an old Spanish man-of-war would be in the ground here. A few hundred years later, a serious attempt was made to find those remains and also extract peat. The workers who did this were called the Turfstekers
One of them was Willen Hendriks, an aged labourer who was working in very poor conditions in the Pagnevaart. He was told by the foreman that it was all about the good quality peat but Willem knew better... It was only about one thing. Searching for valuable treasures and riches from the old Spanish Warship!
One thing was certain, should he find valuable things he would do everything in his power not to let it fall into the hands of those slavers!
Legend Basilicae
It used to be called the Basilica in Oudenbosch St Agatha church, named after 1 of the 7 primary saints. Agatha of Sicily.
Agatha was born in AD 225 and raised as a Christian by her wealthy affluent parents.
In AD 250, a Roman emperor ordered Claudius Quintianus to persecute all Christians.
So did Agatha of Sicily... She was captured and torn away from her husband. But unfortunately, it did not stop at imprisonment alone....
That's how Legenda Basilicae was born...The legend that Agatha is still searching for her true love. Even after her death...But who is her lover? Where has Agatha's official Marriage Certificate gone? Did Claudius Quintianus destroy it in retaliation? There are those who claim to have heard a female voice in the Basilica.... Inexplicable items have been found near the statue of Saint Agatha that people do not know what to do with. There are clues leading to a specific location nearby
