Farm life from the 18th century

The national monument 'De Meeshoeve' is an 18th-century farm complex in Oud Gastel. A special place where the Mees family lived and worked for 100 years. The family was very conservative, so there have been almost no innovations. The interior of the museum is still in authentic condition, as is the bakery, where bread is still baked during open days. In 2002, the farm got a new function as a care farm, offering day care and day care for people with care needs. Footpaths, a greenhouse, haystack, fruit corner, butterfly garden and frog pool have been created.

Also a field chapel with a Mezenhof (with the tombstones of the Mees family) and the Mees Museum. Vegetables, fruit and flowers are grown and there is a diversity of animals.

The objective of the Meeshoeve is to be a social and green meeting place.
