Pagnevaartbos

Nature reserve Pagnevaart is located between Oudenbosch, Hoeven and Bosschenhoofd. The area takes its name from "Spagnevaert", the story goes that a Spanish warship was stranded here and the remains are said to still be in the ground. The forest area, which covers some 35 ha, is freely accessible.

Up the paths, into the lanes

Some footpaths in the area are also part of the Ommetje Bosschenhoofd. The Pagnevaart is an old peat canal that ended in Oudenbosch harbour. This canal crosses the forest area and was an important supply route of peat towards Breda and Dordrecht. Wander endlessly along the paths and lanes. In and around the forest are several cafés and restaurants for a pleasant break during walking or cycling tours.
