What to do in Bosschenhoofd

History of Bosschenhoofd

The area where Bosschenhoofd (North Brabant) was later formed belonged to Hoeven from the end of the 13th century. The Land of Breda included all of present-day West Brabant.

There was a lot of marsh in West Brabant, because of this, peat cutting was in full swing in 1301, by which time the canal in Oudenbosch already existed. Bosschenhoofd had only 269 inhabitants in 1840. These were mainly pioneers from Hoeven, who founded small farms on the wasteland. Bosschenhoofd got a school in 1882 and a church in 1886.

On 1 January 1997, Bosschenhoofd was merged into the new municipality of Halderberge following the redivision of the municipalities of Oudenbosch, Hoeven and Oud en Nieuw Gastel. Previously, Bosschenhoofd and Hoeven together formed the municipality of Hoeven.
