Sniffing culture

Halderberge breathes history and architecture

Halderberge is a gem for those looking for culture! Undiscovered, and therefore all the more interesting. Discover what brought Pastor Hellemons' love of Roman life to Oudenbosch. Admire the work of architect Pierre Cuypers and be surprised by the story of Oudenbosch during a guided walk.

Special buildings with special stories

Halderberge has some special buildings with an even more special story. "Wow, how did such a building end up in this village?" is surely the most heard statement when the guides give guided tours of the village of Oudenbosch. The guides are happy to explain. A piece of history you definitely don't want to miss during your visit to Halderberge.

Italy in West Brabant

Oudenbosch is the place not to be missed when visiting West Brabant. You can't actually avoid it either, because even from the motorway you can see two domes towering over the Brabant village. The tallest is from Oudenbosch Basilica. A huge structure for a village like Oudenbosch, yet 16x smaller than the original. It is a replica of St Peter's in Rome. The Basilica can be visited 7 days a week. Want to know more or explore the Basilica on your own? Book than a guided tour or an audio tour.

The second dome is a bit of a search when walking in the village, but behind the walls of the former boys' boarding school there is Saint Louis chapel. The chapel adjoins 'the grand Cour', a fantastic square where you will feel like you are in a picturesque Italian village for a moment. Saint Louis' guides will be happy to tell you more about the history during a guided tour. Oudenbosch also has two special museums, The Zouave Museum and The Natural History and Ethnology Museum.

Churches, mansions and seminary

Halderberge Besides Oudenbosch, Oud Gastel consists of four other villages, which are also well worth a visit for culture lovers. Oud Gastel has a magnificent church and The Mast Tree House. The latter is a house of a mayor's family, which, after the death of its last occupant, Henry Mastboom, has remained entirely as it was left in 1999.

Discover Oud Gastel

Hooves is worth taking a stroll around the old village centre. A walk past beautiful buildings, culminating in Seminary Bovendonk. A building designed by architect Pierre Cuypers, also the architect of De Basiliek in Oudenbosch.

Besides culture sniffing, Halderberge is also an excellent destination for nature lovers and adventurers.
