Chapel concert Duo Jolente De Maeyer (violin) & Nikolaas Kende (piano)

Praised by critics for their "musical symbiosis", "piercing lyricism" and "powerful yet poetic playing", Jolente De Maeyer & Nikolaas Kende are considered one of Belgium's leading chamber music ensembles. They achieved successes in several international competitions.

Put Jolente De Maeyer in front of an orchestra and the flame shoots up. But even without backing, she scores high on the spectacle-with-chicken-skin scale.

Following their success in international competitions, Jolente De Maeyer and Nikolaas Kende began performing as soloists with all the leading Belgian orchestras. Highlights were the concert tours of Beethoven's violin concerto with Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and Philippe Herreweghe, and of the 2nd piano concerto with Brussels Philharmonic and Ainars Rubikis. Concerts across Europe followed. The duo performed in prominent venues and festivals such as the Festivals of Flanders, Montpellier, Menton and Prague.

The duo's collaboration for more than 20 years elicited enthusiastic reviews from the press that noted their exceptional synergy and harmony. In the 2018 season, the duo made their debut in Florida, Vermont, California, Washington DC, Canada and South Africa.
