The Shanty Choir Festival, organised by Shanty Choir de Bossche Maten, will take place on Saturday 14 September. The festival will be held in front of the Basilica, on the Jan Gielenplein, in the garden of Villa d'este and in front of the shed in the Arboretum in Oudenbosch. If the weather does not cooperate, performances will take place at Grand café de Basiliek, restaurant Villa d'este, Kapel Saint Louis and in the Basilica itself.
Various shanty choirs
Several Shanty choirs will perform during the festival, including the Helius choir from Hellevoetsluis with real old-fashioned shanties and the Blankenberge choir, a real crowd-pleaser! The Strawberry Sailor Singers, a polyphonic choir well-known in the Zundert region, will also perform. In addition, Die Maeze Sanghers, a stylish choir from Maassluis, will also perform. The Harbour Choir Fotitudo, some of whose members also play and sing with the Bossche Maten, will also give a great performance. You can also enjoy The Chanteymaen from Roosendaal with their unique repertoire and the Zeemanskoor Scheveningen, which already has three CDs to their name. Finally, we have the Shanty choir 3xNiks from Heenvliet, known for their fantastic songs.
After the festival, the Bossche Maten will provide a splashing apotheosis for half an hour! You don't want to miss this!
