There will be an astronomy lecture at the People's Observatory Tivoli on Friday, Feb 21, 2025. The title of this lecture is BUREN IN OUR LOCAL GROUP. Following the lecture, we will also go observing if it is clear!
Our sun is part of a whole system, whose other stars we see as dots in the night sky on a clear night. All those stars describe orbits in a system of stars, gas and dusty nebulae, which we refer to as our Milky Way galaxy. Apart from our Milky Way galaxy, we also have 73 neighbours, 2 of which are large in size. So neighbours are fascinating to watch !
The lecture will be given by Niels Nelson. The lecture on Friday evening 21 February 2025 starts at 20:00 in the Library Hall of the People's Observatory. Since a number of planets (e.g. Jupiter and Mars) can still be observed in the evening sky in clear weather then, bringing warm clothing is desirable.
The cost for this lecture is 10 Euro per person, this includes coffee/tea in the break, and includes observing later in the evening.
Via THIS LINK you can sign up directly, once payment is received, we will reserve a place for you. There are a maximum of 35 places available for this evening, so be quick!
