Already more films from Iran have been offered to our guests. There is always something going on with those because they stand up for the rights that are so badly violated in that country. Director Mohammad Rasoulof fled his homeland after filming after publishing the clandestinely shot film.

Iman is happy with his promotion to investigating judge at the revolutionary court in Tehran. This does take a toll on his wife and their two daughters, but initially the benefits of his new position win out. Soon, however, Iman finds out, that he is just a plaything of the regime for which he has to rapidly sign the death sentences already imposed. And when protests increase in the country after the death of student Mahsa Amini, he and his family come under great pressure. And then when his gun also disappears...

At the Cannes Film Festival, the German-mounted film won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize.
