Based on the true story of British World War II veteran Bernard Jordan.

In the summer of 2014, Bernard Jordan, by then 89, wants to take part in the 70th D-Day Remembrance Day on the Normandy beach one last time. He 'escapes' from the nursing home for it in order to come to terms with his war trauma if possible, but he also celebrates his loving 60-year marriage to his wife Rene with it. She supports him unconditionally in his extraordinary adventure.

Bernie's trip lasted only 48 hours, but he made the press around the world.

Alongside top actor Michael Caine (90), Glenda Jackson plays her last role before her death in 2023.
