Sorda (Deaf in Dutch) won the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival. No sooner was it made so clear, what it is like to function as a deaf person in the hearing world and, above all, how problematic it will be when you and your hearing husband have your first baby. And will the child also be deaf?
When the little one is born, father Hector and mother Ángela turn out to experience parenthood and parenting in a different way, putting a lot of strain on their relationship. Ángela is even afraid of failing as a mother.
The film was written and directed by Eva Libertad, who cast her sister for the lead role: deaf actress Miriam Garlo.
