Filmtheather Fanfare | Green border

Without intermission and also in the Monday matinee of 22 April*

It is with great pleasure that we join the national premiere of IFFR's audience winner. With a 4.824 (a 9.65 in our listing), almost all visitors must have given the film the highest score of 5 stars.

The title refers to the treacherous forests between Belarus and Poland, and we all know what happened there. Yet Agnieszka Holland pushes us unfiltered by portraying them in images where you soon forget it is played out here.

Refugees are also trying to reach Europe via this route in the hope of a dignified existence. Belarus is pretty much working against the EU by promoting the border crossing, Poland refuses to admit the asylum seekers. The refugees are left with little choice but to hope that help is on the way in a cold and swampy no man's land without food and medical care....

"Like pawns in a political game, the lives of activist Julia, border guard Jan and a Syrian family are intertwined." (press kit)
