Tegenlicht Meet-up 'Error 404: the internet in crisis'

How can we make the internet belong to everyone again? We are organising this meet-up in collaboration with the West Brabant Library.

It is impossible to imagine our daily lives without the internet. Everything revolves around it: from banking to travel, from healthcare to connecting with each other. But who is actually in control? Big tech companies increasingly control what we see and do, while at the expense of our privacy, for example.

In the VPRO Tegenlicht broadcast the internet in crisis, we meet people working for a fairer, healthier internet. During this meet-up, we will explore this together. We will watch some excerpts from the documentary and engage in a conversation. What does digital freedom mean to you? How dependent are you on the big platforms? And more importantly: what can you do yourself to get a better grip on your digital life?

During the Tegenlicht Meet-up, we will discuss how we can make the internet our own again instead of something belonging to companies. It will be an interactive session led by Amber Prent, Digital Literacy Consultant at the West Brabant Library, among others. We will watch some excerpts from the Tegenlicht documentary 'Error 404: the internet in crisis'. This episode aired on 5 January 2025.
