Maurice Ravel lived from 1875 to 1837 and everyone knows him from the Boléro. The film is therefore set in the roaring twenties in Paris and Ravel is then one of the country's most important composers, if not the most important. He is working on a composition for the next ballet by Ida Rubinstein, an extravagant Russian choreographer, but the commission does not want to be very successful. The composition should be zingy, erotic and daring, and although the city could actually provide plenty of inspiration, Ravel fails to overcome writer's block. Until....
