The story sounds very implausible, of course, but it still has something to do with a true story. At the end of the film, we see some 'evidence'.
In the mid-1970s, young Englishman Tom Michell travels to Argentina to work as a teacher at an exclusive boarding school. The headmaster of the school is doing everything possible to keep education going despite the political turmoil.
Walking along the beach, Tom finds many victims of an oil spill, but one penguin he will try to save and takes to his room on campus. Fully recovered again, Tom wants to take the animal back to the sea, but the animal does not want to leave him. How things continue at the school where animals are not allowed is up to you, but you will understand when we quote from the book review: "Thus begins a witty, touching and heartwarming story about a special friendship between a human and an animal."
From director Cattaneo we previously screened The singing club (8.97) and Tom Michell's book 'The Penguin Lessons' was the "feel-good book of the year" in 2015.
