Relive the liberation of the Netherlands with the Repatriation Route Oudenbosch. In the year 1945, the Netherlands was officially liberated from the German occupiers. A relief for Dutch people at home, but for many a long journey back from labour camps and concentration camps began. Oudenbosch was one of the National Reception Centres to which some of the 300,000 Dutch people were taken.
This year the Repatriation Route is extra special because of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation!
During the week of 29 April to 5 May (except Friday 2 May), city guides will tell you the special and impressive story during this walk.
The walk starts in the Botanical Garden Arboretum and the route passes by the special places. The walk will be supported by sound clips, art and archive footage to give a clear picture of what it was like to arrive in Oudenbosch, be screened and checked and then allowed to go home.
