Filmtheater Fanfare | The last journey

The winner of the audience award at FFO (the Ostend Film Festival) and a, also nice, fifth place at the same IFFR list is up for grabs. That this is a documentary we would like to make clear.

Swedish TV presenter and filmmaker Filip Hammar's father of 80 has been depressed for a long time and his son is trying to do something about it. Both keep very fond memories of their holidays to France and Flip wants to take his father on a surprise trip to that country and make him relive past events there. Friend and fellow filmmaker Fredrik Wikingsson also goes along to operate the camera and he also gets to carry out an assignment here and there.

The trip must go with the same orange Renault 4, with which, incidentally, things soon go wrong, and father Lars already falls down in the first hotel room and ends up in hospital. But the question of whether the plans can all go ahead is not raised for now. From the same flat where the Hammar family used to stay, Filip plans all kinds of events that he remembers from his childhood so as to relive them together.

Sweden 2024. Directed by Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson. Duration: 95'. With: Filip Hammar, Fredrik Wikingsson, Lars Hammar all as themselves.
