It does not happen very often, but the procedure surrounding the election of a new pope is strictly laid down and is done behind closed doors. With Conclave we do get a peek behind this somewhat secretive course of action.
So the cardinals who have come to Rome from all over the world cast their votes behind closed doors in "the most secretive election in the world": the conclave. Cardinal Lawrence leads the proceedings, despite his own crisis of faith. Understandably, high ambitions and the favour factor play an important role here too. It also becomes clear that the recently deceased pope was no saint.
"An intriguing thriller that searches for power, faith and humanity behind the religious facade." (Film Fest Ghent)
