Cycling past local shops and farmers with the ZLTO Cycle Route
How are strawberries grown? How do cows live? How do you grow the tastiest tomatoes? Get on your bike in Halderberge and find out for yourself!
The cycle route takes you past 16 farms from the polders in the Hoevense Beemden to the sandy soils around the Pagnevaart forest.
A wide selection of fruit and vegetables through sandy and clay soils
Halderberge lies on the "seam of Brabant" the border of sand and clay. You can see it in the landscape, the polders are on clay soil and the woods and heaths on sand, but also in the yield of the land. One crop grows better and is tastier on the rich clay soil, the other does well on the poorer sandy soils. So you can taste the best of both worlds in Halderberge!
Learning and tasting
During your bike tour, you can not only learn more about the different agricultural farms, but also taste them! For example Breakthrough Cherries a cherry vending machine and the Heulhoeve a local produce shop. The local catering works a lot with local produce so enjoy the best of the region at lunch or dinner.
Create your own route
The ZLTO cycle route is not a fixed route, but a map with nodes and the various locations marked in. Determine your own route and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Halderberge. Do you prefer a fixed route anyway? Then take a look at one of the other cycling routes.
