The St Matthew Passion is an absolute highlight of composer Johann Sebastian Bach's work. It tells the Passion of Jesus Christ, from the Last Supper to the Crucifixion. It is a long tradition to perform the St Matthew Passion in the week before Easter. Oudenbosch too has this tradition. For decades, the Matthäus Passion Foundation has organised performances of the Matthäus Passion during Holy Week. The performance is led by the well-known conductor Geert van den Dungen. He leads the Bach Choir Brabant, supported by the Baroque Orchestra Florilegium Musicum and the Choir Academy Breda.
In 2024, there are two versions: Monday 25 and Wednesday 27 March.
Both performances are in the Chapel of Saint Louis in Oudenbosch. Starts at 7pm sharp.
