History of Stampersgat
Stampersgat is a village located in the municipality of Halderberge. Itās located between Fijnaart and Oud Gastel. Until 1997, Stampersgat formed the municipality of Oud en Nieuw Gastel, together with Oud Gastel. The village is located along the Dintel river. The Mark-Vliet canal is located on the west side of the village. Immediately noticeable in Stampersgat are the two industrial sites and the village is surrounded by sea clay polders.
Stampersgat is mainly known as the place where sugar factory āDinteloordā is located. The sugar factory, together with the sugar factories in Roosendaal and Zevenbergen, formed theĀ United Cooperative Sugar Factories. This cooperation later merged with Suiker Unie. When visiting Stampersgat, youāll be overwhelmed by peace and nature, it has wide polders and pleasure crafts. Thereās a jetty for pleasure crafts on the Dintel. A nice base for cyclists and walkers. View hiking– and cyclingroutes.
